Dana Altman & the Duck Basketball team SWEEP the Washington schools

Update - Joevan Catron won the Pac10 player of the week award after his dominating play against the Washington schools. If the Pac10 gave out an award for TEAM of the week, Oregon should win that too.

WOW - what a weekend for the Duck Basketball team! After beating both the Washington schools, Dana Altman should be a COY candidate in the Pac10. It's amazing what he's done in such a short time and without any length it makes it even more impressive. The Ducks head down to California to face UCLA (thurs) and USC over the weekend. Joevan has been the biggest contributer & EJ Singler had a big game against the Huskies but there are other players who also need mentioning.
Malcolm Armstead is averging 10.5 points, 4.5 assists & 3 Steals over the last 4 games. JR Strowbridge is averaging 12.5 pts a game over the last 4 games. Big Stats of the game - 26 pts off 15 turnovers &
19-23 from the free throw line. The Ducks will need to contain the UCLA Bigs and keep rebounding the ball to win @ UCLA & it wouldn't hurt if Jeremy Jacobs comes back from his injuries.
I said it when the Ducks hired him - this is a GREAT HIRE and it falls in line with all the other Coaches the Ducks have hired over the last few years.
The Ducks are playing basketball you can be proud of and as I always say it comes down to the old "WRI" rule (who's running it)
Dana Altman has the "O" up this week.

Guardians of the game - Inside look on College Basketball

I just finished reading Guardians of the Game "A Legacy of Leadership".

Dr. Naismith invented the game but it was the man from Kansas, Phog Allen who was behind coaching it. The book profiles the games greatest coaches & highlights their incredible impact on college basketball. Phog Allen, John Wooden, Big House Gaines, Dean Smith, Bobby Knight and Coach K are a few of the names you might recognize but there were so many others who influenced the game and this book tells you all about it.

In Guardians of the Game, you can read the real story behind the rules committee decision to outlaw the "Dunk" & how the NABC saved the dribble and kept it part of the game.

There are so many great stories in this book, If you are a fan of college basketball, Guardians of the Game is must read -
